Learn Your Way to Success

Daniel R. Tobin

Learning never ends after graduation from school. As Peter Drucker said, learning is a lifelong process. This is why we continue to learn on the job.
Learning on the job is not only about reading textbooks/materials. Learning is self-directed process with four stages, data, information, knowledge and wisdom.
There are so many ways to learn such as taking training, learning by critical and creative thinking, experimenting, asking questions, learning on the web and learning from conference and trade shows.
Important thing is to build your PLN; personal learning network. PLN includes not only your mentor and coach but also professional societies, people you met at conferences and online communities.
Don’t forget to keep your learning journal. You need time to reflect on what you learned on weekly basis if not daily basis.
Did you learn anything today? I’m sure you did, at least you learned that there was a book about learning on the job written by Daniel Tobin.
